Practitioner Testimony 2017
Account written in French, machine-translated.
December 2017
The testimony of this Italian doctor, a maxillo-facial surgeon and then an orthodontist, is crucial. It brings answers to the limits of so-called 'modern' medicine. Gradually, doctors discover Dentosophy and question their legitimacy in a discipline that deals only with illness but not the patient.
Excerpt from a pamphlet that this Italian surgeon gives to his patients.
In the first pages, he provides very interesting general information. I will provide the chapter titles.
Title of the Pamphlet: The Pluri Functional Activator (small guide to know it better)
- Introduction
- Functional Orthodontics
- Fixed Orthodontics
- Final Considerations
- The Role of the Tongue
- What is the Pluri Functional Activator
- Today
- Daily Use of the Activator
- From the Other Side of Science
- Dentosophy
I have translated the last two chapters for you.
From the Other Side of Science
Although since the advent of the Enlightenment, the study of reality and subsequently the health of our body has been exclusively directed towards materialism, towards repeated experiments under the same mode and the rejection of all theories that embrace spiritual directions, many today think that the psycho-affective sphere is imprinted in the mouth. The complex relations between the trigeminal nerve fibers and the thalamus and hypothalamus nuclei allow us to assert that deep individual emotions, elaborated in the brain nuclei, can then manifest themselves in dental position or muscle posture with modalities of which we still know very little.
Empirical experience shows that, in many cases, small patients who start using the activator during sleep reduce or stop their anxiety and fear during the day. It is still not possible to say exactly how this happens, but probably the occlusal balance, which the activator achieves, helps our entire brain to reduce hypersensitivity, the basis of all fears.
- Jung gave great importance to symbols and suggested the existence of individual and collective archetypes capable of conditioning our life and health. This great author laid the foundations of modern psycho-somatic medicine, which recognizes the importance of our fears or psychological difficulties in the development of symptoms and diseases.
In the 1980s, Michel Montaud, observing the positive changes obtained in his patients who used the Pluri Functional Activator, formulated the hypothesis that the benefits were not limited to the improvement of chewing function and subsequently the alignment of teeth, but also brought an improvement to psychological and affective problems.
For this reason, in the following years, he came to the conclusion that every change in the psycho-affective sphere was reflected in the arrangement of teeth, but especially that every change in the mouth had an impact in the psycho-affective sphere.
M. Montaud writes: 'We know that with a scientific approach we can measure and analyze to seek tangible evidence. Science accepts with great difficulty what it cannot demonstrate according to its rules. Yet it is not possible to see thoughts and emotions, and yet science does not deny their existence. On the contrary, it asserts that thought is the most evolved human expression and that it forms in the brain. It has identified in which anatomical era a certain function depends, such as language, but it is not able to explain how thought forms. We assert that in history we have never obtained a degree of progress comparable to that of today, and yet we are not able to explain exactly where thought comes from, the human activity so particular that we have made a place just for it: the psyche.'
Dentosophy
For all these reasons, M. Montaud wanted to define a new path in the therapy of the mouth, defining it as Dentosophy, which is a dental therapy establishing a link between the mouth and the rest of the body, physical, organic, and psycho-affective.
Dentosophy does not position itself as just another orthodontic technique among others, but as an inner journey, accompanied by the use of a Pluri Functional Activator, whose goal is harmony and balance between the three dimensions of man: body, soul, and spirit.
This path follows the main principles of a great thinker of the last century, Rudolf Steiner, who suggested an ascent of our soul.
For those who want to delve into the subject, I recommend reading Michel Montaud's books as well as those of Rudolf Steiner, published in the Italian Society of Anthroposophy.

In the current medical world, this man is part of the brilliant personalities who have worked for medical research.
Then, he will attend the Dentosophy training. From this moment, he will question everything he was taught, because he will be confronted with irrefutable evidence that goes against his entire professional career.
I am admiring of such a consciousness, but also such courage to be able to question everything.
Here is what he wrote to me in February 2018.
Describing my experience with Dentosophy is not easy.
Coming from 30 years of work with fixed appliances, the encounter with the Pluri Functional Activator passed from the phase of skepticism to that of amazement and finally to that of enthusiasm which now accompanies my working days. Then, understanding the words of R. Steiner, through Michel Montaud's experience, was an easy and almost inevitable journey.
Dentosophy has positively changed my life and that of the patients who came to me for oral care. I work satisfied and with a smile on my face; I observe the patients and their families, who are well surprised by the care, and I always think about the beauty of our role as dentists: we can really improve the physical and psycho-emotional quality of life of our patients.
The initial amazement of seeing hyperactive or dyslexic children balance, in front of their parents' amazed and joyful looks, has become a kind of 'normality'. The initial amazement of seeing the happy smiles of adult patients who say: now I feel better!
It is a great fortune to continue working at 60, with the enthusiasm of 20.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Michel!
